Are you constantly battling frizzy hair? We understand how frustrating it can be! So we've pulled together our top tips for fighting the fuzz.
Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase
It may sound old-school, but sleeping on a slippery surface means your hair will slide around instead of gripping to your pillow. This will help keep your definition (great for curls!) and stop strands flying away on their own accord.
If you have highly textured hair, pop your hair in a low bun and wrap it in a silk scarf when you sleep. It will have the same effect as above and stop your cotton pillowcase sucking the moisture from your hair.
Choose a sulfate-free, glycerin-packed shampoo
Look for a shampoo with glycerin high up in the ingredient list (the closer ingredients are to the top of the list, the more concentrated they are). Glycerin helps combat frizz by penetrating the hair shaft and hydrating it from the inside out. It's also odorless and non-toxic – just what you want!
Hairspray your brushes
Prone to fly-away hair? Lightly spray your brush with hairspray before brushing your hair. If you don't like to run a brush through your hair, try using hair spray on a tooth brush (sans toothpaste hehe) and lightly brush down the pesky fuzz.
Keep your hair hydrated
Moisture is key. Use a deep conditioning mask every now and again, or regularly use a hydrating conditioner. For you fine hair ladies, try not to use a heavy conditioner, as it can weigh your hair down and make it look flat.
If you're not keen on using chemicals on your hair, use Inverse! That's what we're here for. Our Patented Ice Core Technology is perfect for locking in moisture and banishing those fly-aways.
Get your natural oils working
When you wash your hair, give your scalp a good massage with the tips of your fingers. This helps promote blood flow to the hair follicles resulting in increased hair health, growth and will get those natural oils working.
The less you wash your hair, the more your natural oils can do their thing – so try not to wash your hair too often. You may have to go through a 'yucky' stage to get the balance right, but trust us, it's worth doing!
Another method is to hang your head upside down and brush your hair with a boar bristle brush. This will help distribute the oils from your scalp/roots onto the rest of your hair, keeping your hair hydrated and helping to block out humidity.
Keep the heat down, or go natural
Heat is bad for your hair. Minimise (or eradicate!) use of styling tools that blast your hair with high temperatures. We've done lots of research around this, so head here to learn what happens to your hair at different temperatures! Spoiler: it's not good.
If you can, let your hair air dry and go natural – embrace what you have sisters! Rubbing your hair dry with a towel causes unnecessary friction that's damaging to your hair. Instead, gently squeeze the water out with your hands and let your hair air dry. If you have to blow dry, follow with a cool blast to bring the temperature back down (most hair dryers have this function).
We know going natural can be daunting, but the better condition your hair is, the better your natural hair will sit. You can use Inverse to help repair your damaged hair, alongside other masks and treatments to get your hair where it needs to be. #teamnatural
